MONTREAL, Canada — The annual Salon du livre de Montréal (Montreal Book Fair) held November 16-21 is a major cultural event in Montreal and one of the biggest French-language book fairs in the world. This year, 115,000 people of all ages attended.
The best seller was Sont-ils riches parce qu’ils sont intelligents? [Are they rich because they’re smart?], the latest French-language Pathfinder title, which explains the sharpening class inequalities in the United States and the resulting conflicts accelerated by today’s slow-burning world depression.
The results of the US elections were the subject of many animated discussions at the booth. The Clintons’ Anti-Working-Class Record was the second most popular title. Is a Socialist Revolution in the U.S. Possible? was also a good seller in both English and in French. As in every year Pathfinder titles that contain speeches by Thomas Sankara attracted many people of different nationalities.
