Just in time for the book fair, Pathfinder completed its third title in Arabic and rushed it to Cairo: Capitalism’s Long Hot Winter Has Begun by Jack Barnes. The others are The Communist Manifesto and the First and Second Declarations of Havana. When the Book Fair adjourned in support of a mass demonstration in Tahrir Square April 1, Pathfinder volunteers joined the rally, took the books to the Square, and sold them.

The next day, at the morning meeting of vendors before the book fair opened, Karam Youssef from Cairo’s Al Kotob Khan Bookshop remarked “Pathfinder went into the square and sold the Communist Manifesto there. It was great. They were selling all the hot titles.”

The AUC student newspaper, Caravan, called Pathfinder “the most controversial—and popular—booth at the fair.” Click here to read the Caravan article.
