The Second Assassination of Maurice Bishop. In March 1979, working farmers, workers and youth on the island of Grenada overthrew the dictatorship backed by the United States, bringing to power a revolutionary government under the leadership of Maurice Bishop and began to confront the underdevelopment imposed by imperialist domination. This article analyses the achievements of the revolution, as well as the Stalinist coup d'état which lead to its overthrow and the invasion of the island by Washington in October 1983.
