Antonio Guerrero (1958– ) is one of the Cuban revolutionaries known as the Cuban Five. Born in Miami, his parents returned to Cuba after the revolution. He was active in the Union of Young Communists. In 1983 Guerrero graduated from the University of Kiev as airfield construction engineer. He has developed as an artist and published a book of poetry.
In early 1990s, he volunteered to live in South Florida, monitoring counterrevolutionary groups organizing attacks on Cuba. Arrested 1998; framed up and convicted 2001 of “espionage conspiracy” and other charges, sentenced to a life term plus 10 years, reduced in October 2009 to 21 years and 10 months and served 16 years. In December 2014, after an international defense campaign, he was released from US federal prison and returned to Cuba.
