Luis Báez (1936– ) was a journalist and war correspondent during the Bay of Pigs invasion. He has received numerous awards and distinctions. In 1993, he received the José Marti International Journalism Prize, awarded by Prensa Latina international press agency.
He has written the following books: Guerra secreta de la CIA; Caminos de la Victoria; A dos manos; Cambiar las reglas del juego; Los que se fueron, Los que se quedaron; Conversaciones con Juan Marillo; Secretos de generales; Preguntas indiscretas, Miami: Donde el tiempo se detuvo; Absuelto por la historia; El mérito es vivir; and Junto a las voces por el designio.
As a journalist, he has covered numerous trips abroad by Cuban President Fidel Castro. In 2003, he was awarded the José Martí Prize for his life's work.
