George Clarke (1913–1964) joined the communist movement in 1929 and served on the Socialist Workers Party National Committee for more than 20 years. He was a supporter of the majority in 1939–40 struggle in the SWP to confront mounting bourgeois pressures during Washington preparations to enter World War II. Clarke left the SWP in 1953. He is the author of "The Truth about the Auto Crisis" in Background to "The Struggle for a Proletarian Party" (1979).
