OVER 3500 PARTICIPATE IN THE ONLINE ASIAN STUDIES CONFERENCE
Volunteers with Pathfinder Press joined over 3500 participants in the Association for Asian Studies conference March 22–26, 2021, an online event. Professors, researchers, and others presented papers and discussed politics, history, literature, and culture relating to Asia and the countries of the region.
Over 300 presentations addressed China's place in world politics; the fight against the coup in Myanmar; battles over democratic rights in Hong Kong and the Philippines; land reform; racism; and the farmers struggle in India. Pathfinder volunteers joined the “chat” conversations, commenting on the presentations and highlighting related Pathfinder titles.
An online "exhibit hall" allowed book publishers, sponsors of academic programs, and other vendors to display their materials in "booths". An attractive Pathfinder display and video featured seventy titles, including Our History is Still Being Written: The Story of Three Chinese Cuban Generals in the Cuban Revolution. Volunteers will follow up with more than 130 contacts interested in learning more about Pathfinder Press.
