Pathfinder Press at American Library Association 2025

Philadelphia, PA — More than 14,000 librarians, exhibitors, and authors attended the American Library Association June 26 – 30, 2025. Some 190 educational programs were a featured part of the conference. The Pathfinder Press booth, staffed by volunteers, was a pole of attraction for those interested in books that took up the big political questions of the day such as the world economic crisis and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The conference was marked by many discussions on how to support immigrant workers in the face of the government attacks on the undocumented. Over 200 participants were attracted to a program ‘Strengthening Partnerships with Immigrant Communities.’ Several visitors to the booth were interested in Pathfinder’s Spanish titles, as they looked to expand the offerings of their own libraries to better serve the immigrant community.
A ‘Book Drive for Ukrainian Kids’ organized during the conference resulted in 35 boxes of books to be delivered to Cherkasy, a city in central Ukraine where six ‘Little Free Libraries’ are being built.
The conference was marked by current union battles going on here. Members of the UniteHere union attended the conference and the next day a lively contingent of librarians joined their picket line. Library workers from the large municipal library system wore union t-shirts expressing support for their union.
90 participants signed up for more information about Pathfinder books.
