120,000 FLOCK TO SALON DU LIVRE IN MONTRÉAL, QUEBEC, CANADA

Some 120,000 people flocked to the 42nd Salon du Livre held at the Place Bonaventure complex in downtown Montréal, Quebec, Canada from November 20th through 25th, 2019. The largest French language book fair in North America, it brings together some 750 publishers and 2,000 authors.

As in previous years, the Pathfinder Press booth was the scene of lively political discussions with people young and not so young open to revolutionary ideas. Our History Is Still Being Written: The Story of Three Chinese-Cuban Generals in the Cuban Revolution and In Defense of the US Working Class, both just published in French, attracted considerable interest. The large majority of books sold were in French, but also a number in English, and a couple in Spanish and Arabic. Arabic is the third major language in Québec.
