Thousands attend 2026 American Library Association confernce

Chicago, IL — More than 14,000 librarians and exhibitors attended the 150th Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, June 25–29. Pathfinder Press had an attractive booth that drew many interested in books on the crucial questions facing working people today around the world.

The best-seller was Cuba and the Independence War in Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde: The Fall of the Last Colonial Empire in Africa by Victor Dreke. Books about the struggle for women’s emancipation were popular.

Several young people bought armloads of books. One worker staffing a nearby booth, noting the display of the many titles about Cuba said, “Because of the recent threats by the U.S. against Cuba, I have been focused on learning about the history of socialism.” He bought ten books on Cuba, including Cuba and the Coming American Revolution.

The founder of a publisher with a focus on Jewish issues said, “I applaud Pathfinder for your two books on the Jewish question: The Fight Against Jew-Hatred and Pogroms in the Imperialist Epoch: Stakes for the International Working Class and The Jewish Question: A Marxist Interpretation. 

More than 70 librarians signed up for more information on Pathfinder titles or to have a Pathfinder Press salesperson call them to discuss an order or plan a visit.
