Pathfinder Press Titles Popular at Word on the Street Book Fair

Toronto, Canada — Pathfinder volunteers from Canada and the U.S. staffed a lively
stand at Toronto’s annual open-air book and magazine festival, Word on the Street,
Sept. 26–27.

The top seller was Cuba and the Independence War in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde
by Cuban leader Víctor Dreke followed by titles on the fight for women’s emancipation.
A broad range of titles were sold, from The Communist Manifesto and In Defense of
Marxism, to The Truth about Yugoslavia and Samizdat: Voices of the Opposition.

One visitor, browsing the booth, picked up Che Guevara Talks to Young People
commenting on Washington’s ever-tightening blockade of Cuba, said, “Every country has
the right to live how they want.”

A director of book clubs for inmates described 45 reading clubs set up in prisons around
Canada. He requested a list of the Pathfinder titles ordered most often by prisoners.
