PATHFINDER PRESS AT AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE 2022
Washington, DC — About 14,000 librarians, authors, publishers, and exhibitors attended the American Library Association’s (ALA) annual conference June 23-28, 2022.
Among the hundreds of conference sessions were many addressing intellectual freedom, censorship and book banning, as well as expanding library services to people in prison.
An open house sponsored by the National Library for Services for the Blind informed librarians of Braille and audio services available to visually impaired readers through the NLS.
Pathfinder Press was one of 500 exhibitors at the conference. An attractive booth drew dozens of librarians who stopped by to look over a wide range of Pathfinder titles. Many participants were interested in a special display entitled “Origins of the War in Ukraine,” featuring such books as Lenin’s Final Fight, The History of the Russian Revolution, and The Opening Guns of World War III; and one on books about the struggle for women’s emancipation.
Volunteers staffing the booth distributed hundreds of copies of a review by Peter W. Wood of Pathfinder’s newest book, Labor, Nature, and the Evolution of Humanity. The book was the publisher’s top selling title at the conference.
More than fifty librarians signed up for Pathfinder’s mailing list with several requesting an in-person visit.
