Pathfinder Press at African Studies conference

Atlanta, Georgia – Special interest was registered at the African Studies Association conference Nov. 20–22, 2025, in Pathfinder Press’s Cuba and the Independence War in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde: the Fall of the Last Colonial Empire in Africa, to be published in January 2026. Many participants, familiar with this important fight, prepaid orders for the book. A dozen others expressed interest in reviewing the book for academic journals once it is published.

About 1550 scholars, professionals and students, from North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe visited over 30 booths including Pathfinder Press, and attended panels, plenary sessions, discussion groups, exhibits, and films.

Books by Thomas Sankara, leader of the Burkina Faso Revolution, in English, French, and Arabic topped the sales list. Books about the Cuban Revolution were popular as well as the fight for women’s emancipation with sales of Cosmetics, Fashion, and the Exploitation of Women, Women’s Liberation and the African Freedom Struggle, and Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State.

Several participants purchased books on the Jewish question. One professor from Uganda looked at The Fight Against Jew-Hatred and Pogroms and The Jewish Question and said, “I need to understand this question. I know there is something there that I don’t understand.” He purchased both books along with others.
